Today I saw something that I thought, nor hoped, I’d never see – the cost of a singular avocado has now broken the $6 barrier here in NZ.
Last year, the cost of an avocado rose to $6, sparking the great Waikato Avocodo Thefts of 2016. Now the cost is $6.49 – this could spell End of Days.
According to The Telegraph, this is due to poor harvests this year, and increased demand for the fruit. All I know is, today’s New Thing was the discovery that I need to find something else to spread on my toast in the morning.
Gaining new knowledge about avocados is one thing, it’s another not being able to afford them – 1 out of 5 stars
