The weird sculpture in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, is the UK’s tallest sculpture, and post the 2012 games, some bright spark decided to put a slide down it.
I was treated to slide the ArcelorMittal Orbit by my dear friend Helen, as one of the many UK activities.
I have to admit, I was excited, but when at the top looking down I did feel a bit ‘fluttery’. This could have been something to do with looking down from the 178m drop, or it could have something to do with the hangover from drinking with the same friend the night before.
Safety is a priority, and after they had strapped me up in elbow pads, knee pads and a helmet I was good to go. Pushing off down the slight (which looks like a nearly sheer drop from above, but actually isn’t) was a bit nerve wracking, but the 40 second ride was so much fun – enough to want to run back up the stairs take the lift and do it again.
For a 40 second adrenaline filled experience which can be enjoyed with or without a hangover – 5 out of 5 stars
