“If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”
Today was the actual day that I began my marathon training. A little while ago, on a whim, I entered the Queenstown Marathon, which will take place on 18th November 2017.
This gives me 14 weeks to get fit and ready to run 26 miles / 42 km.
I managed to run 6km tonight.
I’ve probably left getting started a little late…still, where there is a will there’s a way.
The last time I ran a marathon was the London Marathon, ten years ago. I hit the wall at mile 22, hobbled the last 4 miles to the finish, burst into tears and vowed ‘never again’.
I’m probably a masochist, but I’m genuinely intrigued to see if I can improve on the 5 1/2 hour finish time all those years ago, especially since switching to a plant based diet.
For running the furthest I’ve run in a long time and surviving to tell the tale – 4 out of 5 stars
