A good archer is known not by his arrows but by his aim”– Thomas Fuller
This weekend I tried archery. Turns out I am terrible at it, and I bruised my arm on the release of an arrow, but it was pretty good fun all the same.
This two hour taster session covered safety and basic technique, plus we got to shoot fifteen arrows at a target, under the watchful eye of one of the coaches.
As someone who was cursed with terrible eyesight, archery probably isn’t the best hobby for me, but I did manage one bulls-eye (well, I got it on the centre circle), and only one arrow went up and over the target and down the field.
It might not be my new hobby of choice, but it was good fun, and I managed not to shoot someone else or any wildlife in the park.
