Day 12: First Couchsurfer in NZ!

So today I hosted my first ever Couchsurfer in NZ. It was awesome to welcome Helen from Aberdeen to stay on my couch. She was hitchhiking around NZ on her world travels, and we shared wine and stories about useless ex boyfriends, the rough streets of Scotland and England, and just how bloody nice it is here in NZ, and how few scag addicts you meet.

Couchsurfing is a fantastic way to meet new people, learn more about the world, and to travel. I’ve hosted and surfed back in the UK and in other countries, but Helen was my very first Couchsurfer since living in New Zealand.

Ps – my Couchsurfing Profile is here.

# 1: Ride in a Helicopter and looking boss

Taking to the skies of NZ…

So today is the first day of the challenge. And it was a good start…up in a helicopter and over the skies of NZ, along with a suitable selfie that makes me look like I’m flying the thing. Which of course I wasn’t (although I did offer to drive).

Although I’m not a huge fan of flying, being up in a helicopter didn’t actually freak me out…or even make my stomach go over.

It had a fantastic view over the rolling hills and coast of NZ as well. How did this come about? Well, I work for a helicopter charity, and we were off to a charity event. Talk about arriving in style!
