#64 Gasping

Last night I went to see a local production of Gasping, held at the lovely Dolphin Theatre in Onehunga (the venue I discovered at a training seminar a few months ago)

Gasping is a production by UK comedian Ben Elton, and tells the tale of advertising executives who discover the ‘suck and blow’ machine which can extract oxygen from the air, and who then start marketing air to the consumer. Starting innocently enough with ‘designer air’ for executives, things escalate until air is being stockpiled, the market prices tumble, and people are literally ‘gasping’ for a lungful.  Continue reading “#64 Gasping”

#63 (Not) Thinking about the future

Be open to whatever comes next

I’ve always thought of myself as a fairly outgoing person, and I’ve always believed that life is for living, and that in order to grow as a person you have to open your mind and your heart to new possibilities. Since I was a child I had trouble settling, and all my life I have wanted to try as much as I could before I shuffle off this mortal coil. Continue reading “#63 (Not) Thinking about the future”

#62 Discovered One Tree Hill

In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous – Aristotle

Today, my flatmate and I took advantage of a sunny winter Sunday, and took a walk around One Tree Hill, in Epsom, Auckland. Continue reading “#62 Discovered One Tree Hill”

#61 Became a Bird Rescuer

To be doing good deeds is man’s most glorious task- Sophocles

Today I was sick. Ill, poorly, crook, rotten, under the weather – so I took a day working from home. (Sadly I can’t afford the luxury of an actual sick day at the moment, as I’m still on my probation period at my new job, so therefore would have to take unpaid leave). Continue reading “#61 Became a Bird Rescuer”

#60 Began Marathon Training

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you”

Today was the actual day that I began my marathon training. A little while ago, on a whim, I entered the Queenstown Marathon, which will take place on 18th November 2017.

This gives me 14 weeks to get fit and ready to run 26 miles / 42 km. Continue reading “#60 Began Marathon Training”

#59 Discovered Stretch Music

Without music, life would be a mistake – Frederich Nietzsche

This weekend I took my (almost) monthly trip to Hawke’s Bay to see some friends. I like to visit when I can since I moved to Auckland so that my friends don’t forget my face. Continue reading “#59 Discovered Stretch Music”

#58 Went to a ‘TED Style’ Talk

“An investment in knowledge pays the best interest” – Benjamin Franklin

Last night I attended a ‘TED Style Talk’, held at the Leys Institute Hall in Auckland.

For anyone not in the know, TED itself is a not for profit organisation, set up to share ‘ideas worth spreading’ via short talks, which held all over the world. Originally – when the organisation began in 1984 – TED stood for Technology, Entertainment and Design, however nowadays talks cover a wide range of topics. Binge watching TED Talks online is basically how I spend any spare hours of my day. Continue reading “#58 Went to a ‘TED Style’ Talk”
