#62 Discovered One Tree Hill

In all things of nature there is something of the marvelous – Aristotle

Today, my flatmate and I took advantage of a sunny winter Sunday, and took a walk around One Tree Hill, in Epsom, Auckland.

I’ve been a bit poorly sick this week with a head cold that has been doing the rounds at work – just part and parcel of working in close proximity to other charity workers…it turns out that sharing isn’t always caring.

So it was nice to get out in the fresh air, and discover a new corner of Auckland.

What I found lovely about One Tree Hill and neighbouring Cornwall Park, is that it feels like you are in the countryside, even though you are still in the city.

There were new lambs, cattle grazing, and the magnolia was blossoming. It’s also a pretty good walk, we covered about 5km in total, including the walk to the top of the hill, which gives a good 360 degree view out over Auckland.

There’s something very soothing for the soul to be outside in nature. Just taking the time to watch the animals, and enjoy the sunshine on your face, is better than any amount of medicine when I’m feeling under the weather.

For discovering a new Auckland city gem, and getting out in the sunshine  – 5 out of 5 stars
